We invite applications for the position of Associate/Full Professor in pharmacology research at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Mississippi State University. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual with expertise in pharmacology and a proven track record of obtaining extramural funding and teaching professional and graduate pharmacology courses. This position effort assignment will tentatively be 80% research, 10% teaching, and 10% service. Opportunities exist for the successful applicant to engage in One Health initiatives at the college and university levels, including the development of graduate courses in this area.
Key responsibilities include:
Research: Conduct innovative and independent research in pharmacology. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a nationally recognized research program to understand the interaction of natural and/or synthetic agents on cells, tissues or organisms with potential applications in animal or human health.
Apply for research grants and other funding opportunities to support research activities. The candidate must secure research funding from various sources, including government agencies, private foundations, and industry partners.
Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present them at national and international conferences. The candidate must maintain an active publication record and contribute to the scientific community.
Teaching: The candidate will engage in teaching responsibilities in both professional and graduate programs, developing and delivering course material in related fields. Additionally, the candidate will be expected to mentor graduate students and postdoctoral researchers, guiding them in their academic and research projects.
Service, collaboration, and engagement: The candidate will engage in departmental, college, and university service activities and collaborate with other faculty members and researchers within and outside the institution. Participation in interdisciplinary research projects is encouraged. The candidate should also engage in outreach activities to promote the understanding of pharmacology and or toxicology in veterinary or biomedical science to the broader community.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Qualification
* Ph.D. Pharmacology, Toxicology, Veterinary Medical Sciences, or a closely related field.
* Demonstrated track record of independent research and secure research funding.
* Strong and impactful publication record.
* Experience in teaching and mentoring.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
