Job Summary: Johnson Engineering, LLC., is a professional consulting firm founded in 1946 with offices throughout Southwest Florida. We bring collaborative solutions to the disciplines of Civil Engineering, Water Resources, Hydrogeology, Utilities, Transportation, Landscape Architecture, Surveying and Mapping. We are seeking a dedicated Water Resources Engineer that has been in the workforce and brings some experience as a licensed engineer. The ideal candidate is looking for the opportunity to further develop their professional capabilities with an increased emphasis on direct client contact and service, permitting endeavors, management, and interdisciplinary technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities: As a team member, you will be responsible for participating in a variety of water resources engineering projects at the proposal, planning and execution stages for engineering studies and construction projects.
• Assist with conceptual, preliminary, and final construction design drawings for water control structures, regional flood mitigation projects, and water quality improvement projects.
• Obtain a thorough understanding of stormwater analysis and design. This will include the preparation of stormwater management plans involving hydraulic and hydrologic modeling analyses, hydrogeology, assessment of climatic data, flood assessments, floodplain mapping and modeling, flood mitigation designs, natural channel design, environmental compliance and regulatory permitting.
• Hands on experience with stormwater management modeling, including HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS and StormWise/ICPR4.
• Oversee pre-construction, during-construction and post-construction implementation of water resources projects and coordination of field work.
• Liaise with clients, agencies, and others to determine project requirements and obtain approvals.
• Supervising CAD designers and project coordination with other departments, professions, and agencies.
• Complete permit application packages to obtain regulatory approval.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering or related field from a four-year accredited college or university. Master's degree a plus. Engineer Intern (E.I.) certification with 1-5 years of experience in surface water and/or groundwater.
• Strong written and verbal skills required.
• Construction experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to effectively present information to governmental boards, public groups and/or boards of directors.
• Experienced with software such as stormwater routing modeling, ArcGIS, AutoCAD (Civil3D) is preferred.
• Working knowledge of the rules and regulations implemented by state and federal regulatory agencies, such as: Florida Department of Emergency Protection (FDEP), South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD), United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), is desired.
• Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
• Ability to have fun in a family atmosphere.
• Excellent driving record and valid Florida driver's license is required and an essential part of the position.
