Job Description

Electrical Estimator Trenton, NJ

Annual Salary: $100,000K+ with complete benefit package

Responsibilities:

  • This position is responsible for preparing bids/proposals for commercial and industrial customers
  • The Electrical Estimator participates in all aspects of the bid/estimating process
  • This includes an initial review of plans, and proposal specifications, soliciting and negotiating prices from contractors/suppliers, and completion of bid/estimating effort including closeout
  • In addition, performs quantity take-of scope of work and bidding of construction projects
  • Prepare proposal specifications and drawings to determine the scope of work and required contents of the estimate
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and tour job sites to confirm requisite take-offs; participate in project review meetings to assess project performance
  • Prepare estimates by calculating the complete take-off of the scope of work
  • Maintain files of working documents as backup for estimate figures, including information on pricing from suppliers obtained through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, software uploads, etc..
  • Support other departments and personnel, as required
  • May review design options and recommend the best solution based on cost, engineering quality and/or availability of materials
  • Cultivate strong client relationships to foster repeat business and referrals,, in addition to soliciting new business; ;engage with customers on bid walks and provide technical expertise
  • Provide support to field operations regarding electrical estimates
  • Regularly reports to and works with the executive team on setting production targets and strategy
  • Ensure strict adherence to budgetary guidelines, quality, and safety standards
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including compliance with all regulatory requirements

Requirements

  • This position requires expertise in estimating electrical construction projects, from conception to completion
  • Project Management experience a plus
  • Proven experience (7+ years) as an electrical estimator in commercial and industrial settings
  • It also requites strong leadership qualities, organization skills, and experience and understanding of electrical engineering principles
  • Strong understanding of NEC and local building codes
  • Proficiency with estimating software (Accubid), QuickBooks and MS Office
