Job Summary

Mission: To enrich the lives of young people in the Louisville Metropolitan area by providing

educational programs and affordable facilities that build character, install positive life skills

and promote healthy choice through the game of golf.

Chapter Overview

First Tee - Louisville is a youth development organization that enables kids to build the strength

of character through the game of golf. We create experiences that build character to empower kids

through a lifetime of new challenges and continuous personal growth. By seamlessly integrating the

game of golf with a life skills curriculum, First Tee - Louisville creates active learning

experiences that build inner strength, self-confidence and resilience that kids can carry to

everything they do.

Employment Status: Full- time

Job Summary: A Golf &Life Skills Program Coach is responsible working with team members and

volunteers to teach the First Tee curriculum to youth aged 6 to 17 by integrating golf with life

skills education. This full-time position emphasizes teaching, mentoring, and creating a safe and

engaging learning environment for all participants. The Life & Golf Skill Program Coach is

responsible for all aspects of the organization’s programing process: including recruitment,

cultivation, training, and stewardship of youth, programs, volunteer coaches and non-coaches. The

Life & Golf Skill Program Coach is expected to model the values they teach and inspire confidence

and resilience in young learners.

Roles and Responsibilities

Coaching& Programming:

  • Complete First Tee Curriculum training and update, as necessary.
  • Implement First Tee Life Skills Education, per outlined in First Tee guidelines and

training.

  • Provide a safe and fun environment, while motivating and inspiring all participants to learn and

grow.

  • Effectively and timely communicate program details to parents, participants and

volunteers.

  • Maintain participant records by monitoring registrations and updating records as needed.
  • Ensure timely responses to all parent requests, questions, and comments.
  • Assist with reconciliation and annual survey efforts.
  • Prepare and execute lesson plans with enthusiasm and clarity.
  • Prepare, setup, and tear down equipment.
  • Recruit, train, and engage volunteers effectively.
  • Learn and improve personal golf knowledge and understanding of First Tee curriculum.

Miscellaneous

  • Network with other chapter colleagues to exchange best practice ideas.
  • Represent the chapter to the community and assist in event fundraising, marketing, public

relations and communication.

  • Complete First Tee Certified Coach training within 24 months of hire date.
  • Maintain continuing education for certifications.
  • Attend meetings and training events, as requested by the CEO.
  • Complete other duties, as determined by the CEO for the successful operation of the

organization

Preferred Requirements:

  • Adherence to the standards of conduct, values, and involvement established by the First Tee

Organization.

  • Demonstrate exceptional communication, fiscal management and managerial skills.
  • Experience in identifying, cultivating, and managing volunteers.
  • Experience using a volunteer management software system.
  • Inspired by a genuine passion for empowering and helping youth succeed in life.
  • Vision to work diligently to promote and expand the efforts of the organization.

Requirements:

  • Experience in teaching or coaching youth (minimum 1 year).
  • Bachelor's Degree in the areas of sports administration, education, recreation or related

field.

  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must pass background check and complete Safe Sport Training.
  • Strong knowledge of golf and passion for the game.
  • Ability to work program hours including, late afternoons, evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions and transport/lift/roll equipment that may be upwards

of 75 lbs.
