Home Health/Hospice Medical Biller
Dependable Health Services is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Hospice /Home Health Medical Biller to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately processing and submitting medical claims for various home health and or hospice services provided by our organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical billing processes, coding regulations, and insurance guidelines. Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment are essential to succeed in this position.
This is a full-time, in-office position, Monday to Friday.
Responsibilities: - Review and verify medical documentation, ensuring compliance with coding regulations and insurance requirements.- Accurately assign appropriate medical codes to diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10 and CPT coding systems.- Compile and submit claims and invoices for reimbursement to various insurance companies and agencies.- Monitor claim status and follow up on outstanding accounts receivable to ensure timely reimbursement.- Identify and resolve billing discrepancies or errors by working closely with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients.- Stay updated on changes in insurance policies, coding guidelines, and reimbursement rates to ensure accurate and compliant billing practices.- Prepare and submit electronic claims through billing software systems, ensuring proper documentation of treatment provided.- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to industry regulations.- Assist with insurance authorizations and pre-certifications to ensure coverage for home health services.- Collaborate with other members of the billing team to streamline workflows and improve overall billing efficiency.
Requirements: - High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in medical billing or related field preferred.- Proven experience as a medical biller in a home health or hospice setting.- Strong understanding of medical coding systems (ICD-10, CPT) and insurance guidelines (Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance).- Proficient in using billing software, electronic medical record systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.- Strong organizational and time management skills.- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients.- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and ability to maintain confidentiality.- Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures related to home health services and hospice.- Ability to adapt quickly to changing billing rules and guidelines.
