Volunteers of America (VOA) is one of the nation’s largest faith-based human services organizations, dedicated to improving lives since 1896. As a church without walls, Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas (VOACC) serves 11,000 individuals across five states and the District of Columbia, with approximately 800 employees and a $60M operating budget. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced President & CEO to lead our impactful organization into the future.

About the Role: The President & CEO of VOACC will be responsible for overseeing VOA’s mission and operations, reporting directly to the Board of Directors. This is a unique opportunity to lead an organization committed to social justice, diversity and equity while fostering community partnerships and advancing our vision of service.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience : 10+ years in senior leadership, preferably in human services, healthcare or affordable housing. Non-profit experience with budget management is highly valued
  • Leadership : A passionate, strategic leader with strong management skills, financial acumen, and a proven ability to inspire and build relationships
  • Commitment : A demonstrated commitment to social justice, diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Education : Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.  Willingness to become a VOA minister within 3 years of joining the organization
  • Fundraising & Community Engagement : Proven track record in fundraising, team-building and developing partnerships with diverse stakeholders

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the organization’s business growth to meet community needs
  • Develop and implement innovative programs and strategies
  • Cultivate relationships with Board members, government funders and the community
  • Inspire staff, clients and volunteers through a strong, values-driven leadership approach
