Official Sanpete County Sheriff's Patrol (County Probation) Roster Notification Opening date: October 17, 2024 Closing date: Open until filled, 2nd review November 18, 2024 5 p.m. * * The Sanpete County Sheriff's Office is currently creating a roster for Deputy Sheriff I, II, III to perform law enforcement for the citizens of Sanpete County, as a County Probation Officer. Job Requirements -Respond to and investigate a variety of citizen complaints and enforce the laws of the State of Utah, and Sanpete County while defending the Constitution of the United States. -Willfully work weekends, holidays, day shift, swing shift, night shifts, and unusual and varied schedules as required by the Sheriff. -Be subject to on-call time, call-outs, and emergency activations. -Write reports, provide testimony, and facilitate evidence collection prior to and during courtroom proceedings. -Enforce criminal and traffic laws, work with other agencies, provide court security, and transport prisoners and mentally ill subjects/patients. -Conduct themselves in accordance with county policy, sheriff's policy, the law enforcement code of ethics, local, State, and Federal laws. -Work with fidelity for the Sheriff and the Sheriff's Office command staff. -Submit to and pass random drug testing. -Maintain cooperative working relationship with those contacted in the course of work activities. -Make rapid and sound decisions, solve problems, and defuses or controls hostile situations under pressure. -Proficient or can become proficient in the use of firearms and police equipment including emergency vehicles, intoxilizer, field sobriety tests, and radar equipment. -Skilled in reading, writing, and basic math and analytical problem solving. -Ability to maintain files, records and reports. -Skilled in document composition and report writing. -Ability to maintain a working relationship with other law enforcement agencies. -Be subject to a probation period of up to 18 months during which they can be released without cause. In addition successful applicants may expected to willingly perform other duties such as School Resource Officer, DARE officer, Transportation, Criminal Investigator, Narcotics Investigator, Civil Process Server, and other duties as assigned. -In addition, successful applicants may be assigned to perform other duties. **NOTE: This position is funded on a yearly basis from the Uniform Bail Forfeiture Grant and subject to yearly renewal. Minimum Eligibility Requirements Include :** -Must be proficient in computer software applications and ability to communicate in writing. -Must pass a risk factor assessment. -Must pass a pre-employment drug screen. -Must (as a condition of employment) live in Sanpete County within a reasonable time after the date of appointment. **Currently certified in Utah as a Law Enforcement Officer (LEO), w ith a minimum of two years experience. Attach certificate ** Applicants, that in the opinion of the Merit Commission, can meet the minimum eligibility requirements will be granted an oral interview and written testing with the Merit Commission and may be interviewed by the Sheriff. * * The salary will be determined by the Sanpete County Sheriff and County Commissioners with a beginning wage between $27.11 and $29.90, depending on qualifications.
