Trade Compliance Specialist Location Waukesha, WI : Description:

The Trade Compliance Specialist is responsible for overseeing the daily import/export compliance activity for all CentroMotion global businesses and support the Senior Global Trade Compliance Manager to identify gaps and reduce trade compliance risk.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Global Trade Compliance Manager with developing, implementing and maintaining policies and procedures to ensure CentroMotion and all of its business units are in compliance with all applicable international, federal, and global regional laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Support the Senior Global Trade Compliance Manager by leading the continuous improvements to address the global trade compliance risks and gaps.
  • Provide technical expertise to cross functional teams (including product development, sourcing, manufacturing, logistics, finance and legal) to determine and/or validate product value, country of origin, tariff exemption eligibility, substantial transformation, harmonized tariff code classifications, Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN) and ITAR classification (USML).
  • Conducting internal or external audits across CentroMotion business units to ensure trade compliance effectiveness and to identify areas of weakness for improvement. Facilitate or review completion of any corrective actions.
  • Work with Logistics and approved Customs Brokers to conduct monthly sample entry audits requiring agents to meet or exceed the developed Key Performance Indicators in cooperation with the relevant business units. Provide customs compliance support for import and export activities with selected customs brokers.
  • Manage import and export recordkeeping
  • Identify or update HTS or ECCN codes or classifications and facilitate obtaining licenses when required
  • Complete denied/restricted party screenings of suppliers, customers, and visitors. Work with customer service, commercial, logistics, or shipping departments based on results of the screenings.
  • Analyze or determine country of origin. Work with business unit purchasing and operations personnel to facilitate supplier solicitation of certificates of origin.
  • Lead or facilitate annual FTA supplier solicitations for USMCA. Create certificates of origin or USMCA certificates as requested by customers.
  • Participate or assist in other global, regional, or local projects on an as needed basis.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, Logistics, International Business, or a related field preferred
  • Three or more years' experience in U.S. export/import regulations and global trade compliance.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. export control regulations to include Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
  • Working knowledge of US import regulations
  • Working knowledge of harmonized tariff schedules, ECCN's, export licensing, customs reconciliation, customs valuations, duty drawbacks, customs assists and USMCA.
  • Maquiladora experience is preferred.
  • Expertise with global trade management software preferred
  • Working knowledge of the ACE and SNAP-R portal applications
