We are seeking an Executive Chef who can lead our culinary team, elevate our operations, and expand our footprint in Columbia.

As the Executive Chef, you will orchestrate a dynamic menu that celebrates locally sourced ingredients, smoked to perfection over hickory hardwood. This pivotal role is less about previous barbecue experience and more about your ability to lead and drive success. You will ensure our kitchen is a paragon of efficiency, cleanliness, and tight inventory control, mentoring a team to foster an environment of culinary excellence and operational precision.

Executive Chef Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure the highest food quality and consistency to elevate guest experiences.
• Recruit, train, and mentor kitchen staff to foster a culture of excellence and mutual respect.
• Oversee all aspects of kitchen management, including meticulous inventory control, procurement, and efficient resource use.
• Manage kitchen financials effectively, implementing cost control measures for food and labor to ensure profitability.
• Collaborate with the culinary and management teams to execute dishes with precision, maintaining the quality of established recipes.
• Implement and maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization within the kitchen, conducting regular quality audits.
• Uphold stringent health and safety standards, ensuring all practices meet or exceed regulatory requirements and company policies.
• Leverage culinary skills to ensure the consistent execution of menu items, adapting to trends while upholding the core essence of Midwood Smokehouse’s offerings.
• Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure the procurement of high-quality ingredients and supplies.
• Participate in strategic planning with the management team to continuously improve and drive the success of the restaurant.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma; Four-Year Degree or Culinary Degree preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years in culinary management, ideally in a high-volume environment.
• Previous BBQ experience is a plus!
• Strong leadership, communication, and time management skills are crucial.
• Expertise in kitchen sanitation, safety standards, and inspection readiness.
• Valid ServSafe certification is required.
