The Operations Manager provides hands-on direction and support while driving continuous improvement of processes and systems, leading day-to-day operating activities for this industry leading manufacturer. This person will champion Lean Transformation initiatives while developing and continuously improving processes to increase capacity in support of business growth.

This is a high-profile role that touches every level of the business unit and has direct visibility to BU, division, and corporate leadership with significant long-term career advancement potential. The position is onsite, based in the greater Charlotte Metro.

Responsibilities include:

• Own the full scope of operations within the manufacturing facility (production planning, quality, EH&S, maintenance and annual operating plan and budget). Spearhead formal productivity and cost saving initiatives that drive year over year cost improvements.
• Champion Lean transformation, establish a culture of excellence, and drive continuous improvement projects that support customer focus, shorten lead times, and maintain top performance in safety, quality, cost, and delivery.
• Manage and implement a production planning process including scheduling, material flow, work instructions, and inventory management to achieve daily production, quality, lead time and cost goals.
• Recruit, assess, and develop an operations team with a positive attitude and the skills, competencies, and drive to achieve world class levels of performance. Provide direction, development and leadership to managers and supervisors while maintaining high employee engagement and retention levels.
• Evaluate and monitor the Quality Management System (QMS).
• Create a culture of collaboration, transparency, action orientation, and accountability.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, or related field required. MBA and Black Belt a plus.
• 8+ years of relevant experience including leading multi-shift manufacturing operations, Lean transformation and best practices, developing operating budgets, scheduling, and quality management.
• Demonstrated collaborative and entrepreneurial minded leadership approach that gathers input, develops and empowers people, and utilizes a systematic approach to achieve objectives. Willingness to be hands-on and embedded in the business, leading by example as a true player-coach and change agent, and working with and through others to achieve desired results.
• Significant Lean manufacturing and DMAIC experience and expertise.
• Strong action orientation and ability to utilize data and cost/financial acumen to make decisions and move quickly in the best interests of the business, employees, and customers.
• Engaging leadership, effective written and verbal communication, and ability to direct and motivate at all organizational levels.
• Creative, results-oriented, and capable of balancing multiple/evolving priorities, analyzing and solving problems, and maintaining a culture of accountability.
• High degree of business and financial acumen a must. Ability to provide timely and detailed analysis and reporting, and analyze/interpret common business and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
• Strong analytical and communication skills to prepare reports, budgets, memos, and business correspondence and effectively communicate with top management, vendors, customers, and throughout the organization.
